20 Things All Dog Owners Must Never Forget

It's been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, ain't that the truth!

Here are some of our favorite dog quotes that are short and to the point, but that really conveyed how we felt about dogs, and why we do what we do here at PawBuzz:

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”
“Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend never owned a dog.”
“Unconditional love is as close as your nearest shelter.”
“What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs.”
“In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog.”

a dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself – Josh Billings

Sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Denise Holden I so agree with you!!! It is our gift to our pets to be to their last breath!! Have done it several times because we love them so much!! My Boxer girl ginger was 13 when she journied to the rainbow bridge. I think of her every day for 8 years!!!!

  2. Was there for #20 with our first dog, a Yellow Lab who was the most obstinate, gorgeous, loving and Alpha dog until the very end at 14 and a half years. Was there for #20 with our third dog, our second Goldie when we eased his pain from a cancerous face tumor at only 4 and a half years. Two years later we were once again there when our second dog and our first Goldie suddenly became ill three days after Christmas, of non-diagnosed cancer at age 7. Each time both my husband and I cried like babies as we stroked their fur and whispered in their ears they were loved and thanking them for being such joys in our lives. Guts you every time but it is the only humane and thoughtful way to show your love to such special family members.

  3. Yes, it is brutal. It took me over a year after we had to put our 16 year old doxie Penny down. I was there stroking her as she peacefully passed. Have her ashes by my bed. We now have Tazer, a rescue doxie, 8 or 9 years old. He is my life now, but he has taught me I can love again and need to save others once he is gone. But man is this one going be even more brutal…
