20 Things All Dog Owners Must Never Forget

It's been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, ain't that the truth!

Here are some of our favorite dog quotes that are short and to the point, but that really conveyed how we felt about dogs, and why we do what we do here at PawBuzz:

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”
“Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend never owned a dog.”
“Unconditional love is as close as your nearest shelter.”
“What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs.”
“In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog.”

a dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself – Josh Billings

Sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. My dog is my best friend. On my days off, anywhere I go, she goes. When I pick up the kids at daycare, I stop and pick her up first. I constantly talk to her. In training her, my trust level has gone up. I can sit on the front door step and know that she will not run off. I am glad that she is still young, only 5, I am hoping for at least another 10 years. She is my 4th child.

  2. I lost my Springer spaniel to kidney cancer, you are never prepared even though the vet has told you. She was my first dog & I loved her with all my heart, I cradled her in my arms when I had to say good bye. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, this was 5 years ago & not a day goes by when I don’t think of her. I have kept her ashes & when its my time to go she will be with me, she was my best friend. Love & miss you my Molly. xx

  3. I’ve been thru some things in my life, but easily the hardest thing I’ve ever done was hold my 13 yr old English Bulldog as she breathed her last breath.. Knowing she wasn’t scared and was peaceful because she knew I was with her made it worth the pain I felt being there knowing I was losing her… #20 hits hard.

  4. This is true. I do all of these things with all pets I have. My last dog Sara was really up there in age (She was 22) when she started to rapidly lose weight and not put any back on and I made the right decision in putting her down (I couldn’t stand to see her suffer) It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but the way I had seen it, she had been with me through the loss of other pets A currently have a plaque with her paw print and name with the date she past and ND my father (who was her most bestest friend when he was alive) and I couldn’t just leave her in her time of need. I may have done it with tears but being able to hold her afterwards and crying over her helped me grieve. I currently have a placque with her paw print, her name and the date of her passing with a saying about how important she was to me. I now have another dog. Her name is Bella and she’s 2. I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old and to her, I’m mommy and she’s completely spoiled, but she’s the sweetest girl. People judge her to be mean because of her breed and their ignorence (She’s a boxer) With Sara I never dressed her up or got her outside wear as she had a thick coat, but with Bella as soon as I noticed her shivering in the fall I got her a coat for winter. I’ve become one of those fur-mommy’s lol. One of the best parts is my brother got her sister, from the same litter and they look exactly the same with just a few slight differences. So she gets to see her sister often and gets to spend holidays with her sister.
