Small in size but big in personality, the Yorkshire Terrier makes a feisty but loving companion.
The most popular toy dog breed in the U.S., the “Yorkie” has won many fans with his devotion to his owners, his elegant looks, and his suitability to apartment living.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Yorkshire Terriers are no exception!
But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Yorkie owners must never forget.
If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Yorkie owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

I didn’t have to be told any of these things! I had my Yorkie 14 years and probably all those years she didn’t sleep with me maybe 15 times. Not counting when she had to stay at vets over night. She wet the bed one night I felt the warm pee, didn’t yell at her, I knew right away she had diabetes. We slept on the couch the rest of the night. At 7 she was diagnosed with Cushings disease.

I have had many beloved pets during my now many years of life. I’m with my last pets because I don’t want to leave behind a pet when I depart this life. They grieve so. I can honestly say that I took that last journey with my pets. I watched and took them to see his or her doctor before they could suffer and I held them in my arms with tears streaming and cooing sweet I love you’s as the needle entered their bloodstream and they instantly went to the arms of Jesus where they are now waiting for me.

I think about number 20 a lot. I cry when I think about that day coming, even though Avery is a healthy 3 year old. I love her so much, it hurts to think about losing her one day.

SO sorry to read of this. I had to put down my sweet little boy last friday morning. Only 10 years old, but had liver cancer, and some other illness. I am heartbroken over losing my little guy. Putting him down was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I brought him home and buried him in my yard. Good luck to you.
