20 Things All Shih Tzu Owners Must Never Forget

James Mumsford, an American teacher and composer, perhaps described the Shih Tzu best:

Nobody knows how the ancient eunuchs managed to mix together: a dash of lion, several teaspoons of rabbit, a couple of ounces of domestic cat, one part court jester, a dash of ballerina, a pinch of old man, a bit of beggar, a tablespoon of monkey, one part baby seal, a dash of teddy bear, and, for the rest, dogs of Tibetan and Chinese origin.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Shih Tzu's are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Shih Tzu owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Shih Tzu owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. #20 brought me to tears too. I’ve had 10 dogs in my life. I wasn’t by the side of my German shepherd . My parents took him away while I was away and didn’t tell me til I got home. My terrier/poodle was shot and killed and one of my first Shih tzus was blind and deaf. She plus the other one, both Went to the vet that day. She didn’t recognize me, and I regret not being there when they put her to sleep. I was there for her brother when they put him down prior to her? And got overwhelmed when it was her time. The other Shih Tzu that went to the vet that day went into emergency surgery and they removed his eye . The next week, I was in the hospital. It was a bad time.

  2. #20 broke my heart had to go though that with our baby girl shihtzu 4years ago she was 17years old..miss her each and everyday…loved her so much she is now playing with her Yorkie brothers who went many years before her…..

  3. I will love my Molly dog for the reatvof my life and I promised her I will always be there for her. I canr imagine life without her. She is my little angel, even when she acts naughty lol

  4. My Timmy who has been rescued. It breaks my heart that humans could be so neglectful to not want this precious animal. My heart is overjoyed (as his is) that we have found each other. I have had dogs before but not one as special as this precious baby.
