20 Things All Schnauzer Owners Must Never Forget

Dogs are family, and Schnauzers are no exception.

These adorable dogs with close wiry coats and heavy whiskers around the muzzle were originally bred to be ratters, guard dogs and all-purpose dogs on German farms.

Their versatility, protective nature, and love of family make them an excellent companion dog breed.

The schnauzer type consists of three breeds: the giant, standard, and miniature. With all of his innate skills and exceptional good looks, is it any wonder breeders felt one size was not enough?

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Schnauzers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Schnauzer owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Schnauzer owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. I’m so sorry Bill Snyder. It’s heartbreaking I know. My girl Princess was 2 1/2 when she was diagnosed with diabetes. $500 a month for 9 years, I didn’t care…we were family. May you feel okay one day soon, from me and my boy Scooby.

  2. Vickit Morris – you are so right. My girlfriend and I held him as he layed on a big fluffy pillow at my wonderful vet’s. Part of my heart died with him that day. It was a family affair with my miniature Grete. We all gathered around in the vet’s office and I held her too. It is respect for all the selfless love and joy they give freely to you.

  3. Hugs Bill, we just went through this with our Casey on December 1st to prostate cancer. It’s so hard to do, but helping them end the pain is the heartbreaking part of our love for our four legged babies.

  4. Five years ago I and my husband took our Maggie just around this time and we had to let her go. I always sang to her and while they gave her her medicine I sang to her You Are My Sunshine but the version I made up for her. My poor husband cried the whole time she fell asleep and the whole day. We loved her so that she lead us to a new puppy about a month later who we named Wilma. Wilma officially came home with us in early May of that year and she is a very loving silly at times girl. Maggie was silver with cropped ears and Wilma is dark grey with some white and floppy ears. Schnauzers are special friends!

  5. Be leary of this site. The link on the next page takes you to a site that automatically adds a tab for nuisance ware — telling you that your computer is infected … call this number… On the small popup page there is a box to check “Don’t show me …” Click that box and you should be able to get rid of it.
