20 Things All Schnauzer Owners Must Never Forget

Dogs are family, and Schnauzers are no exception.

These adorable dogs with close wiry coats and heavy whiskers around the muzzle were originally bred to be ratters, guard dogs and all-purpose dogs on German farms.

Their versatility, protective nature, and love of family make them an excellent companion dog breed.

The schnauzer type consists of three breeds: the giant, standard, and miniature. With all of his innate skills and exceptional good looks, is it any wonder breeders felt one size was not enough?

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Schnauzers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Schnauzer owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Schnauzer owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Hey guys,
My mini schnauzer passed away a couple of months ago.
I still find it very hard to sleep without her. She was with us for a little over a decade and it still hurts not having her around anymore.

I was wondering if anyone around my area (fortworth-Dallas, Texas) are selling or giving away any mini schnauzer puppies?
    If so please message me.

  2. Wayne I’m so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful dog! I’m sure that your little guy is playing with my Toto somewhere over the rainbow bridge. They ARE family and we get so attached. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  3. Just lost our Squirt last Thursday to cancer. #20 has me crying all over again. I was laying with her on my chest when she breathed her last breath, I was glad she was able to go on her own at home. My heart still aches. We have had 3 others that we had to put down, aged 14 and 15. Squirt was only 8…gone too soon…

  4. Larry and I are on our 4th miniature schnauzer after 23 years together. Never will forget when this 6’5″ man got down on the floor with our first Heidi in 1997. Our original Hiede was 8 weeks old, her biological sister Gretel came 2 years later, then Hansel ( a rescue 5 years old), now we have Hiede2, another rescue we got from a divorce who was 6 years old. When we had to put down our original Hiede the vet came to our home…Heide was 3 weeks shy of 14. I cried more for her in 3 days, than I even cried for own mother’s passing. Gretel was 5 months later from kidney challenges she had turned 12 and Hansel we had for over 5 years was 10. I’ve never had kids, but they are my furry kids. Larry and his wife back then had 3 mini schnauzers. Hopefully our Hiede2 will be around another 5-6 years. They really make a house a home. They continue to show and teach me what unconditional love really is.
