Dogs are family, and Schnauzers are no exception.

These adorable dogs with close wiry coats and heavy whiskers around the muzzle were originally bred to be ratters, guard dogs and all-purpose dogs on German farms.

Their versatility, protective nature, and love of family make them an excellent companion dog breed.

The schnauzer type consists of three breeds: the giant, standard, and miniature. With all of his innate skills and exceptional good looks, is it any wonder breeders felt one size was not enough?

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Schnauzers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Schnauzer owners must never forget.

    Our it’s very sad to think about #20, but it’s a given when it’s their time. I have had to do it with 2 of my schnauzers and no way would I not be there with them. It’s the final act of love.

    Miss our schnauzer everyday, he has been gone 5 months and it still kills me! He had liver cancer, fast growing so after we found out we gave him a month, at the start of really showing signs of becoming uncomfortable, as hard as it was we did not want him to suffer in any way, many things could have happened , so we unselfishly decided to put him at Peace…. even though he was still eating, and playful , happy to see us, we were with him when he took his last breath laying in our lap. He was 10 1/2!

    I’m sobbing, will be 2 years in Sept. since our Bruno passed and I miss him so much, we were lucky to have him for 7 years, he was our baby, our sweet little mini schnauzer. We have his ashes and his favorite toy, just couldn’t part with him.

    I’ve never forgotten my beloved minis and I am on mini #5 (a rescue) – it never gets any easier but having no regrets for the unconditional love that was given is beyond any happiness in this lifetime.

    Hasn’t this been rehashed numerous times, this time substituting “Schnauzer” for Pug?
    Not that I don’t love all dogs, but why is there a post entitled “Schnauzer owners . . ” on a Pugs Are Awesome” page? Just sayin’

    My vet charges an extra $30 I think it was for being there for my babies journey over the Rainbow Bridge. I happily paid it for both of them. Miss Maxine and Buster so much. But I now have Nico, can never replace Max and BudBud, but he has filled the hole they left behind.
