One of the best dogs for children of all ages, Labrador Retrievers are kindly, good-natured, and take most things in stride.

Most Labrador Retrievers are very friendly with everyone, though compared to Golden Retrievers, many Labs are just a bit more conservative with their affections.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Labrador Retrievers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Lab owners must never forget.

    I’ve had both Lab and Golden
    The male Golden was more needy than the female and my Lab was perfect in knowing when we both needed each other or just to be near but not crowding yet she never objected to a good quick rubdown…. I’m missing her greatly and I’m trying to get through the sadness so I can decide on a new rescue and give the love and attention she will deserve. And a new happiness for me.

    Oh this brought on the flood gates as my husband and I had to put down our 17 year old lab last night. For 48 hours I was beside him petting him and talking to him. He has about 15 seizures in a 24 hour period and my heart was in pieces to see him suffer.

    I grew up with many dogs throughout my childhood. My Granny would find collarless strays on the street, call shelters and loom for lost dog signs. If she never was able to return a dog home, she would keep them. She once was a rehome for a purebred Chinese Sharpei, which she gave to me. My Sadie is the first lab breed who’s owned me, and my life has been so rich and fun with her. She’s not quite 2 yet. We just adopted a brother for her, and he’s growing on her quick. I love my baby girl so much.

    Sorry for your loss…..My Doc is 9 and I dread the day when I will lose him. He has been the best lab/dog I’ve ever had. They become such a part of your life it’s hard to imagine life without them.
