20 Things All Labrador Owners Must Never Forget

One of the best dogs for children of all ages, Labrador Retrievers are kindly, good-natured, and take most things in stride.

Most Labrador Retrievers are very friendly with everyone, though compared to Golden Retrievers, many Labs are just a bit more conservative with their affections.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Labrador Retrievers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Lab owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Labrador owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. #20 was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. We had Toby since he was 6 weeks old he was a 1/2 black lab 1/2 rottie but he was 100% awesome when he was 12 years his spleen ruptured that’s when they found cancer when they went in to fix the spleen. It really sucked having to decide to end his life, but he would have been in daily agony had we not made that decision, money wasn’t a factor, I would have paid any amount of money if he could have been cured, my wife, daughter and I were with him when he took his last breath, and right before the end he had a look on his face that it was alright. We buried him in the front yard, because that’s where he always liked to be, I miss him more than words can describe.

  2. It truly breaks my heart to read. I to lost my Buddy Man 3y ago. It was difficult to let him go. They had to pry him from my arms. It was quite a while before I got my Tank. Although I love both my boys beyond words, I still miss my Buddy Man. He holds a special place in my heart. He hold a place of honor on the shelf.

  3. #20 is something no lab owner likes to think about and something everyone is aware of. No Need to include. I get emotional just thinking of that day. That I wish will never come but inevitable comes to all. Take that off the list

  4. Omg. Couldn’t even get thru the whole comment. Breaks my heart. So incredibly sad for your loss. Sounds like Toby had a wonderful life and was lucky to always be a member of a great family. 🙂 you sound like good people 🙂 again so sorry for your loss… No matter how long ago- seems like the wound is never fully healed

  5. We lost our Chocolate Lab just before Christmas, he had an inoperable growth pushing on his windpipe and making breathing difficult, he was only nine and I feel very cheated and still miss him like crazy.
