20 Things All English Bulldog Owners Must Never Forget

Despite his gloomy mug, the English Bulldog is one of the most amiable of all breeds. Some English Bulldogs are friendly with strangers, while others are politely reserved.

Though stubborn, the English Bulldog is surprisingly sensitive, remembers what he learns, and responds well to patient, persistent training that utilizes food motivation. Jerking this breed around accomplishes absolutely nothing.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, English Bulldogs are no exception!

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome English Bulldog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. I had two one lived to 14! The 2nd sadly only till age 2 she got sick late one Saturday night and was gone by Monday morning after having been out enjoying herself just that Saturday afternoon in the park.. This was due to ‘soft palette syndrome’ PLEASE get your bulldog checked for this as it is very common in the breed yet not widely known. A small operation can prevent your dog from dying.. And leaving you heartbroken!

  2. Please google and get your dog checked for ‘soft palette syndrome in Bulldogs” my passed suddenly at 2yrs old from it.. It’s very common in Bulldogs but not widely known. It also isn’t checked on puppies first vet check. A small op can rectify the birth defect and save your dog.. Worth doing I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I or my dog did.

  3. This made me kind of sad. My Tuff is 10 1/2. He is the best dog in the world although he dosent always listen, and is stubborn that’s what makes him who he is. The most loyal best friend I could have ever asked for.
They truly are the most loving breed

  4. They are the best dogs on earth. We just had to put our two beloved babies down 5 days ago. Lola just ,our beautiful white beauty had cancer, she was 10 and a half. Chauncey was our pride and joy, he was almost 12 , he couldn’t see anymore, and was getting very frail. I miss them SO much. Nothing like a Bully. I can’t wait to see them again, they were the love of my life.

  5. Yes, all bulldog owner are very loyal !
And we all seem to understand they are special (and special health needs). I have never had a bulldog owner, say to me they require too much care. Those all seem to think this breed is worth it”. One of the 6 year old dog children ( Bear Behr) is pawing my leg wanting me to stop working . He wants me to come to bed. With him. However his 12 year old mom got her arthritis pain Med, earlier and is taking up the best pillows. She burrows in to them when she really feel good . See picture.
