20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Our first dog was a long-haired Doxie that we got in Germany back in the 70s. We’ve had many dogs since then and came back to a Doxie again after losing our Border Collie in 2014. Lizzie is the love of my life.

  2. Bart Fargo, please don’t beat yourself up. Part of the relationship between people and dogs is a simple and unavoidable truism.

We give our beloved pets all we can.

Our beloved pets give us everything they have.

It is not a fair or balanced relationship. It CAN’T be. We have friends, family, jobs, hobbies, tv shows, social lives. They have— us. And they seem to be happy with us if we give them the love they need when we can.

I am confident your Doxie knew she was loved and cherished. Please just know that no human being can possibly level the scales. We can never do all we would like to do; but they just need us to do all we CAN do.

    I hope this helps.
