20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. 20 is the hardest part of being a pet owner. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member because they are family! Be kind to your pets and leave them home in the hot weather, they can die a horrible death in your car

  2. My boy Mr was my little soul mate…#20 KILLS me because I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye 🙁 One minute he’s wagging his tail as I tell him “mummy can’t get under the pool deck. .. go tiddles…I’ll be right back”…15 minutes later. ..I found him under that pool deck…dead 🙁 He was 14.5 years old…I miss him so much and he’s only been gone just over a month 🙁

  3. My lily is 7 years old and I cherish every moment I have with her . I can’t imagine life without her , even though I realize that it will happen one day . To me she’s the most perfect silly fun loving dog I’ve ever met . Tia DiMora Thomas

  4. Jill Ogle Coffee thank you sweetie and very sorry for your loss. I’m certain we will be missing Sonny for a long time to come, as well! He brought us so much joy and love…we just picked up his ashes tonight (one week later).

  5. Aww I do all of those things amplified to the max. I wrote out 2 pages of instructions for all of their preferences when I leave town next week. I can’t comprehend people that don’t do all of these things for their children…I mean dogs. 🙂
