Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.
The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!
But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.
If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…
Check out the 20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget on the next page:

I understand I am late in replying to this (it only just now came across my wall), and I normally don’t respond to things love this but I can just scroll by with out saying something. First off Hollie Pettigrew I am sorry for your loss.
I am a vet tech and help people say goodbye almost on a daily basis 🙁 . We give people the choice to stay or or not. We NEVER judge a person’s choice. If they stay I make the owners and pets as comfortable as possible given the situation. They are given as much time to say goodbye before and after.
For those who can’t stay they are given their time to say goodbye then we take the pet and do what we do. The entire time I tell that animal that they are ok, they are loved, they are a good boy/girl. I give them the love they need if the owner can not. I hold them until they are gone.
I am sure whoever helped you say goodbye your pet did the samething. I am sure your dog felt loved to the end. And if she was with people she knew and trusted she was ok.
I don’t think anyone is morbid for staying to the end, I don’t think k anyone is heartless for not staying.
My own choice will to not only stay but to have the other dog there as well so everyone has closure. Judge me if you want, call me morbid. We are all different in how we handle death and pain.
Again Hollie, I am sorry for your loss.

He does but I’m working with him being off a leash and actually coming the first time I call him lol and having him stay by my side. But what it said about them not understanding what you want right away especially, I’ve been really hands on and consistent with certain things I’m asking/teaching him to do.

Our Loki is 16, almost deaf, going blind, and he walks with a wiggle and wobble from a back surgery years ago, but he still has that dachshund delight in life, and we love him so much! We know his time is coming, but it still will not be easy to bear. Our condolences to everyone who has lost a little four-legged part of their heart.

I had a B/T doxie mix. The night my brother died my dog that was more his acted strangely by running behind the couch. I grabbed her when she came out the other end. It was a game we had played. I held her close and she calmed down. One hour later a policeman and coroner came to the door. After giving mom her nitro, I asked the time of his death. It was the time my -our dog acted funny. I know my brother came back to our house and even as we humans do not always know these things, Gods’ best friends’ for us do. Since this time I’ve lost that pup. I adopted another doxie mix. I had to put her down on Christmas night 2015. I sure need my dogs now. I’m disabled & mom will soon be 86. I will never forget the love, joy, and companionship of my precious doxies. They are in Heaven with God and my brother.

My Angel will be 8 soon and is still pretty active. I was in a car wreck last year and broke my back so I’ve not been able to play with her like I used to. But she acts like she understands and I will be with her when she is not able to play like she used too. I love her with every fiber of my being. And the last one brought tears to my eyes also. I will go with her on her last journey and hold her while she takes her last breath.
