20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. I get approached daily from people looking for money. I don’t know if they are homeless but they are well known in the area. I might give some change if I have it, I have seen others give some food, and sometimes I give nothing. If you want to blame someone then call out the administration that keeps cutting mental health costs ..because that is what most of these people need.

  2. I lost my Roz, April 3, 2016. She was 12 years and 8 months old. I walked with her on her journey. She had been ill. I honestly feel she was happy to have me at her side to hold and love her before she left to doggie heaven. It was the saddest day for me and her companion Cruzer. She is missed, but not forgotten.

  3. We can’t image not having our babies. Number 20 made us both cry. We have Willie, Sugar Baby and Rona. They go with us when we go on vacation and the pet store etc. They have their car seats in the back seat of the truck. We go to New Mexico in the fall and Willie and Sugar Baby love to go in the car and have to be by the window. Rona not so much. She rides in the middle and goes to sleep. We don’t have grandkids so we just tell everyone we have granddogs. ❤

  4. Number 19 & 20 tore my heart apart. I was able to share my Samantha’s passing and it was very stressful but very comforting somehow. I couldn’t be with my Weenie when he passed and it was a deep regret I couldn’t hold him as he coded out. I still cry over that.
