Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

    Thank you so much Sam 🙂 I held her in my arms until she fell asleep then the vet carried her out and did the last shot… I still cry everyday about it but I honor her life by thinking about the joy she brought to my life. You’re very kind…

    Hollie Pettigrew I’ve been a nurse for 30 yrs. Everyone handles loss in their own way. When it comes down to it, you have to what is best for your situation. I think lossing one of my doxies would hurt as badly as losing a family member bc they are family. Don’t apologize bc you did what was right for you. So sorry.

    I miss my Rex too!! He was such a kind gentle soul and he loved so hard. I don’t think there was one thing that he didn’t love. I stayed until they gave him a shot to make him sleep but I couldn’t stay for the rest. I feel so guilty about leaving him there. I should have held him til he was gone. I talk to him all the time. Mommy loves u Rex

    I have guilt about it too, I have guilt about a lot of things when it comes to her. Like I should have taken her on more walks, held her longer, etc… But I don’t think it honors her memory or helps anything. We all do our best, that’s all we can do in this life. I gave her my heart and soul, she has a piece of me with her in heaven and I have a piece of here on earth… The situation was so traumatic and for me, seeing my dog die would have left a negative image and I didn’t want to remember her that way. I have her next to my bed in an urn, pictures of her ask over the house and at work, and I got a tattoo with her name on my ankle. I have such admiration and gratitude that I was blessed to have such an amazing little dog… You shouldn’t feel guilty, you know you have your Rex an amazing life and his death shouldn’t negate that.

    I just lost my boy after 14 years and 14 days. Doxies have the best souls and anyone that says different has never known the love of a doxie. I miss my baby so much…

    I was there with my Izzy when she took her last breath on August 29th at 10:15 pm. She was was diagnosed with lung cancer less than 3 months before and I cherished each day she was with us thereafter. Right up until the morning of the day she passed she was alert and very reactive. I knew this was the end and planned to take her to the vet the next day if she made it through the night. In a selfish sort of way I’m glad she passed at home in my arms, I feel her presence all the time. She is forever in my heart and soul..

    We were there for our little Baxter when the time came, he was in the comfort of our arms and in the comfort of his home. he was with us for 13 years and passed earlier this year… I miss that little munchkin a lot :-(… looks just like the little guy in pictures #20

    I’m a dashhound owner of three great girls. All of that is so true.. well spoken words. My babies each gave a different attitude and each do differently. And I can never stay mad at them when they do bad, I mean I feel awful and they look up at u wuth those eyes. I’d really hurt anyone who tries to hurt them. I spend alot of my time with them playing exploring each day.
