The Cocker Spaniel is primarily a beloved companion dog breed, though he remains a capable bird dog at heart.
Beautiful to look at (and labor-intensive to groom), the Cocker’s amenable, cheerful disposition also makes him a treat to have in the family.
Never more pleased than when he’s pleasing you, he’s as happy to snuggle on the couch with his favorite adults as to romp in the yard with the kids.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Cocker Spaniels are no exception!
But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Cocker Spaniel owners must never forget.
If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Cocker Spaniel owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…
Check out the 20 Things All Cocker Spaniel Owners Must Never Forget on the next page:

I love my Cocker Spaniels and have lost five since I was a kid….I have 2 beautiful buff colored ones now, Mollee Rose, age 4 and Kallee Rose age 8 and our one son, has 2 with the middle name Rose and our daughter has one with the middle name Rose! I love them all and my mother’s name was Rose and we had cockers growing up so my sister started the tradition of any cocker in the family has the middle name Rose! They are such loving dogs and I still cry over all my babies I have lost through the years!!

I’m almost 15 I lost my hearing about 6 months ago, my mommy cried but I showed her I’d be fine. Sometimes I get scared because I can’t see her but I use my nose and find my mommy. It was hard at first for me but I know sign language and u know my mommy and daddy will watch over me. Just as you will over your sweet baby.

This is my world she is almost 15, she lost get hearing about 6 months ago. She us the sweetest girl ever. I’ve had 2 other dockets over the past 30 years, middle who died at the young age of 4 they could never tell me why her back legs gave out, one vet said ruptured disk another said she was fine. Had to put her down. She was a beautiful red, my other was Mollie, she got cushions and died at age 10. I was with them both to the very end. I so miss my girls. I spend every minuet with my mandie that I can.

Oh Linda Caton Terry I am in Tears! She is beautiful. We adore him and I’ve been worrying so much. Our son is home for the summer after completing his freshman year of college. OReilly is so happy to have him home yet he still seems to feel so bad.

My greatest companion is my cocker spaniel, Tom. He is the best friend I have ever had. He is 8 years now. He’s been part of my life since he was 8 weeks. We’ve traveled many states together. He is my joy.

It makes no sense that these have to be reminders, it should be inherent to every human for every furry child. Every day when I see that little tail wiggle is reminder enough.

She’ll get used to not being able to hear and she’ll realize that smells and cuddles are working out just fine. 🙂 I lay my neck on Savoy’s neck and speak to him so he can hear/feel the vibrations, and he just wags and wags that little bum 🙂

Our Lady is 13 years old and has been deaf for 2 years. She adjusted well with lots of love and cuddles. She now understands some sign language! And she barks less! Unfortunatly she has a large tumor behind her front paw that was removed 6 months ago but came back bigger 🙁 we are so sad that she’s on her last miles … My 7 year old daughter woke up this morning crying saying she didnt want her Lady to die. These are hard times but we try to be with her as much as we can and snuggle her as often as we can!
