Boxers are silly, sweet and mischievous. They clown around with family and friends, are patient and playful with children, but show a deliberate and wary face to strangers, responding with unmatched courage to anything that threatens their loved ones. Those characteristics are why people love them.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Boxers are no exception!
But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Boxer owners must never forget.
If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Boxer owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…
Check out the 20 Things All Boxer Owners Must Never Forget on the next page:

Im thinking of rehoming a rescue dog….its a big step to take as its heartbreaking when you lose them …then again the unconditional love they bring with them is priceless xx

After my Sadie passed at age 14 I was so distraught that I said I would never have another Boxer, but eventually I went to HCBW and rescued a lovely red named Daisy. Then I rescued another called Denver. They were absolutely amazing. Sadly Daisy died in her sleep about three years later and I had a desperately upset Denver to console. In time he settled down and was a most adorable and loving companion and was my baby grandson’s best friend. It was heartbreaking when he finally had to be p.t.s. He had a very bad heart complaint and we knew when it was time to let him go. I later rescued another Red Boxer (another Daisy) who sadly died from exactly the same complaint as Denver. But what I will say to you Jackie is that no matter how long you have them (rescued Boxers) the rewards for you will be unbelievable because once they have settled in (usually about 1/2 hour!!) the love they will give you is amazing. So please go ahead and rescue one – there are always lots of the poor souls looking for a forever home. You won’t be sorry.xx

I have been with two of my Boxers on their final journey and those have been the two saddest days of my life; Baron who was my son’s best friend for 11 years died at age 13 from complications due to his age and failing brain and bodily functions; Brehus, who was with me for only 4 years, died prematurely as a result of a brain tumor that caused him to become totally blind and then inflicted terrible seizures on him that were both scary and painful for him and unbearable for me to watch. My newest Boxer will be 3 in 2 days and is another wonderful, loving, sensitive an loyal friend. He brings me joy every and asks noting in return but a little food and love.

Omg That last one got to me
I did stay by my dogs side when they put her asleep cause she was too old and sick
She couldn’t be with me anymore
It broke my heart to say goodbye but I couldn’t let her leave this earth without my rubbing her like I always did

I will NEVER forget the day we picked Duke, our new family member, from Boxer Rescue L.A. He was about 18 months old and PERFECTLY trained. Duke became the center of our world
and loved by all that passed through our home! As time went on he had so much of my attention that while walking with my daughter, Jess Schoenbaum, one day, she looked up at me with those beautiful eyes and sheepishly said ” you love Duke more than you love me and Troy.” I chuckled and sarcastically said “hmmmmm, let’s see, he always greets me tail wagging, never talks back and always eats what I give him with gratitude in his eyes!!! However, …….there is no one and I mean NO ONE has my heart more than you and Troy…..and we laughed as we started our hike.
