  1. Stop cutting their ears to make them look vicious, mine were the funniest, most lovable, clever and gentlest dogs I have had as they were bought up properly as pets not as guard dogs, loved them to bits. Sadly too large for me to cope with now in a small flat.

  2. I just wish I could find a good breeder that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg – I’m a single mom and I would love a Doberman pup to grow with my little one but doesn’t look like that will happen

  3. I cannot speak for everyone and I’m sure there are some people that want their dogs to “look vicious”… However, that is not my reason for cropping. I love the original look of the breed. I am in love with Dobermans and their personalities. I will admit it is the original look that I am attracted to and I believe in keeping with the integrity of the breed. I am the proud owner of now my fourth Doberman. I agree that it is an elective surgery but so is neutering and tail docking and people do it every single day. We as humans also choose to circumcise or not circumcise our sons when they are born (also elective.) I say to each his own and we should mind our own business. And I am happy that you chose to have your dogs as pets as do I. My dogs have all been simply pets. But there is also a need for guard dogs just like police dogs, etc. And there’s nothing wrong with dogs being used to guard and protect their property and families just as police dogs work to protect us.
