After Years Of Loyalty, Senior Dog Dumped At A Shelter Because “No One Had Time For Him”

Everyone meet Jake–a sweet 16-year-old Collie who was dumped at the shelter because his previous owners no longer had time for him.

Jake’s story is really heartbreaking, well who wouldn’t be heartbroken after being discarded like trash by the family you loved and protected? After years of being a loyal companion, a protector, a friend, and a family member, the people who he once knew as “family” surrendered him to the Humane Society of Crawford County in Ohio. Victoria Carmean, the director of the Humane Society of Crawford County, said that Jake looked scared and confused as he was looking around at the place where his family left him.

This was what Carmean wrote in her post:

Yesterday a beautiful 16 yr old Collie came to us. He was surrendered because no one had time for him. After 16 years of being a loyal companion, guardian of children, confidant and protector he was discarded. We gave him the quietest kennel we could find as he looked around in fear and confusion. He didn’t question or fight… he followed me with trust and dignity and the wisdom that comes with old dogs.

But there’s still hope for sweet old Jake. Carmean did everything they could to find a home for him. And within just two hours, they were able to contact Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio who promised to give Jake a home. With their senior dog program, Jake will have a home living with other sweet senior dogs like him. You can see in the photo above, the two wonderful ladies who came to transport him. They hugged him and gave him kisses–assuring him that they’re gonna take good care of him and give him the love that he needs. They couldn’t help but cry for this beautiful, sweet dog.

You can help support Jake in his final years by sending a donation to Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio.
