In addition, service men returning from both World Wars brought additional acclaim to the breed, having seen them in Europe where the Shepherd saw live action on the German side.

In 2012 TIME magazine named a German Shepherd its distinguished “Animal of the Year” for its role in taking down Osama bin Laden with Seal Team Six.

    The only thing I have to disagree with in this post is that the GSD is NOT for everyone. The breed requires lots of interaction and stimulation that many people just don’t have the time for and that’s why there are so many dogs that are turned in to shelters. Just sayin’…

    #4 was my kids and I yesterday when we were driving down the road and saw an older man walking his german shepherd. We rolled the window down and slowed down just to tell him we liked his dog, lol.
