Cocker Spaniels are dogs belonging to two breeds of the spaniel dog type: the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel, both of which are commonly called simply Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin.

The American Cocker Spaniel is a breed of sporting dog. It is a spaniel type dog that is closely related to the English Cocker Spaniel; the two breeds diverged during the 20th century due to differing breed standards in America and the UK. Some of the words that describe the temperament of an American Cocker Spaniel are: Outgoing, Even Tempered, Merry, Joyful, Trusting, Sociable.

The English Cocker Spaniel is a breed of gun dog. The English Cocker Spaniel is an active, good-natured, sporting dog standing well up at the withers and compactly built. There are “field” or “working” cockers and “show” cockers. Some of the words that describe the temperament of an English Cocker Spaniel are: Playful, Faithful, Friendly, Quiet, Affectionate, Trainable.

    What rubbiish my friend owns one which i sit, he is the sweetest most adoreable dog, he loves other dogs, loves to sit with you, loves to play is so funny seems to understand everything you say to him and is good as gold,apart from the not keen on cats, everyone of these reasons is wrong.

    That’s bull, I had a cocker from 5 weeks old, til he died at 14 1/2 years old, he was a blessing and the best dog, he never seen a stranger and he loved other dogs,and I would get another one in a heart beat, love my cocker
