Rottweilers are one of those breeds that have a ‘reputation', and the perception many people have of them isn't even close to the reality.

The Rottweiler is a robust, powerful, and loyal dog with strong protective instincts. They are outstanding companions and protectors.

Because of the Rottweiler’s size, strength, and protectiveness, owning a Rottweiler carries a great deal of responsibility and commitment.

Rottweiler's temperament vary from natural clowns, affectionate to almost everyone, to the very reserved one-man dog. Rottweilers are calm and alert companions.

Rottweilers often follow their masters around the house keeping a constant and sometimes obtrusive watch over their loved ones.

If you are considering to own a rottweiler, or you’ve just become a new rottie owner, there are some realities you do need to fully accept.

  1. My rot grew out of sleeping on my bed and would sleep right next to bed on the floor no further than an inch from the bed frame. He was trained not to get on the couch from a pup so very rarely did I see him on it. These are mostly true from my experience.

  2. All very true.. I gave been training a pup for 5 month- no couch no bed lol.. But they forgot to add that no breed of dog is MORE STUBBORN than a rottie.. Sometimes adorably stubborn, throw her self to the floor and freezes. Sometimes painfully stubborn ” come!” And all I get is that “ya right!” Stare… Love her to pieces any way 🙂

  3. Yep !!!!! All 12 are spot on!!!!! If I put my sweatshirt on to go outside , then my Rottie thinks that means it’s time for her to go outside as well !!!!! Always !!!!! Very loyal 4 legged family members they are !!!!! They are truly family dogs !!!!! Just my opinion, just thinking, just saying !!!!!

  4. I had a rottie for 8 years , I can relate to all but 2 or 3, my rottie was never lazy , she was hyper right till the end and she did not like me watching tv, that took attention away from her ! She was the coolest, smartest and most loyal and loving dog I have ever known. I miss my girl everyday

  5. Every thing you said is true especially the protection over family they are the gentlest dog and lo loooovvveee walks our 185 lb walked better than the other 2 dogs …lol yes they do have a slight stubborn streak like some other breeds but its something that can be worked on lol …miss our big boy alot…best dog breed ever

  6. All very true! Ours are protective, full of love, a bit doggie crazy (in a dopey way) yet bloomin lazy when it suits them. Had to go any buy a bigger bed to fit us all in but older age catches up and under the bed is the easier option. Best breed ever, our family would never be without one (always rescue our Rots rather than get a pup as we have the life style of being able to)
