What do England, the U.S. Marines, Yale University, University of Georgia, and dozens of other schools all have in common?
The dog they have all chosen to represent their tough, tenacious characters. That dog? Why, it's the Bulldog, of course!
Sometimes called the English Bulldog or the British Bulldog, the breed originated in England and has a bloody past.
It descended from fighting mastiffs that were brought to the British Isles by the Romans and was used in a bloody sport called bullbaiting.
Today, however, the Bulldog only slightly resembles his ancestors in appearance. And all of the ferociousness that he exhibited in the bullbaiting pens? Gone for good.
Despite his still ferocious appearance, you'd be hard-pressed to find a dog with a sweeter, more loving disposition. They are friendly, social, calm, balanced, compassionate, stubborn, proud and persevering.
If you are considering to own an English Bulldog, or you’ve just become a new English Bulldog owner, there are some realities you do need to fully accept.
Check out the twelve realities new English Bulldog owners must accept on the next page!…and if you already are an English Bulldog owner, see if you can relate!

Steve Cristino well said and that is not ture about the life span. It is 10 and well taken care of some have done as 13 so that is false if you don’t care for the breed than don’t like there page. And then get on the page and slam them.

Did you not read what Alison said properly Mike she’s mentioned some valid points that people need to be aware of people should be aware of how much work these dogs are before they buy them might save so many being neglected and new homes having to be found

Sarah Smith trying to put another breed down just to promote your own is disgusting if people do there homework regardless of breed and stay away from the back yard puppy breeders then the faults EVERY breed get can be minimally past on to future my bulldog was bred for health and parents correctly chosen huu clear my$#%&!@*has also need boas tested and passed with flying colours and has no health issues and neither do any other dogs that the breeder has there so the belted is not riddled with health issues it’s the pups bred solely for money and which are usually cheaper if people didn’t try saving money and helping puppy farmers then these health issues could be dramatically eradicated and that goes for all breeds not just bulldog

You made some valid points people do need to do there research and chose a breeder carefully as for the rest of your statement what a load of rubbish your chatting

I don’t need to reply to every a-hole looking to fight. This just shows how eager everyone is to pick a fight over a damn doggie post. Get over it people. Time to delete this thread. Apparently people are not capable of being civil and polite. THATS uneducated!

I think we can all agree pretty much any dog is love able whether bulldog, mutt, mix or any breed. Some breeders do over breed and some don’t. Let’s face it there are way too many dogs out there and every dog deserves to have a loving home. If people were responsible there wouldn’t be shelter dogs. Also mutts can have plenty of health issues as well as low life expectancies. I’ve had many dogs in my life many different breeds /mixes/mutts. Right now I have a bulldog who gives me just as much love and enjoyment as the others have. Stop with the negativity.
