Chihuahuas are comical, entertaining, and loyal little dogs, absolutely brimming with personality – often a quirky and eccentric personality unmatched by any other breed.

Other than that generalization, Chihuahuas are extremely variable. You can find individuals who are lively or placid. Bold or timid. Feisty or mellow. Confident or nervous. Stubborn or eager to please.

Chihuahuas do not have a particularly good reputation among the general public. Ask a few people, “Do you think Chihuahuas are nice little dogs?” and see how many of them exclaim, “No! They're nasty little things who bite!”

How a Chihuahua turns out depends mightily on the genetic temperament of his parents and grandparents. In other words, entire lines of Chihuahuas are social or antisocial.

    I’m 56 years old and I have had chihuahuas since I was a kid. I can relate to all of that. I’ve had ankle biters, barkers, laid back ones and etc… but they all had some things in common, unconditional love and devotion to me. I’ve had as many as 13 at one time and they all slept with me. How do you tell a chihuahua no? Oh yeah they can pout better than any 2 year old child. My little Wesley would pout and pretend to be sick to keep me from going to work. I love all of them.

    Chihuahuas are like no other dog. They become attached to one person and they make that one person their own. My Honey does everything with me, including sleeping right next to me at night. I live in a condo with only 4 rooms, but she follows me from room to room. She comes looking for me if I leave the room for even a few minutes. I wish I could afford to have a few more Chihuahuas.
