Bullmastiff
The Bullmastiff is a large-sized breed of domestic dog, with a solid build and a short muzzle.
The Bullmastiff shares the characteristics of molosser dogs, and was originally developed by 19th-century gamekeepers to guard estates.
The owners were having trouble with poachers trespassing and killing game on their property.
Utilizing the toughness and aggression of the English Bulldog and the size and power of the Mastiff, having this thing charging at you was likely terrifying.
Once the dog caught a poacher, it simply used its enormous size to apprehend the thief and pin him firmly to the ground until help arrived.
Despite their size, this breed is known for being silent – a valuable trait when it's protecting its property from any trespassers.
In fact, if you're a burglar, the first sign you're being attacked by this dog will be you hitting the floor after it knocks you over.
