Birthdays are a special time, whether you’re celebrating your one hundredth or your very first day on Earth. And what makes a birthday even more special is getting to share it with a siblings.

Humans give birth to twins fairly regularly, four in about every 125 births, but for horses, twins are a much rarer occurrence.

Only once in about every 10,000 births will twin horses be born. Tiki, a 16 year old mare in Colombia City, Indiana beat out the odds. She gave birth to twin foals.

Her owners, the Mason family, said that they were prepared for the twins, having gotten regular ultrasounds for Tiki throughout her pregnancy, but they were still happy and excited when the foals arrived!

Now all that’s left is caring for the newly doubled family, and though that’s sure to be quite a challenge, but the Mason’s are up for the task!
