When rescuers from “Hope For Paws” went to rescue Rudolph the senior dog, they were prepared to do some running to catch him.
The homeless dog had spent all his life fighting for survival on the streets. But when his old age took a toll on his health, he simply retreated to a lonely field to lead a quiet life.

The rescue started on a bad note as Rudolph bit his tongue in his desperation to escape the rescuers.
But it didn’t take long for the gentle dog to realize that the humans were there to help him. Within moments, his fear turned into gratitude as he thanked his rescuers with a big smile!
At the shelter, the workers were quick to observe the multiple scars littered across Rudolph’s hardened face.
He had clearly lived a very miserable life and the rescuers were determined to transform him into a truly happy dog.
They transferred him to a foster program under “Lionel’s Rescue”, and began looking for a forever home for him.

It was frustrating for the rescuers to know that most people were unwilling to adopt a senior dog who was scarred from his homeless past.
As things started looking bleak for Rudolph, the poor dog became heartbroken again. In the meantime, Rudolph’s foster mom fell in love with him.
After much thought, the shelter decided to make the woman a forever foster mom for Rudolph!

In a recent post, the shelter has updated that Rudolph passed away due to old age after living an enriching and comfortable life in his foster home for almost 3 years.
Rudolph’s poignant story reminds us why every homeless dog and every senior dog deserves to be rescued and loved. Rest in peace, Rudolph.
