The Lewis family was in shock following the events of a major fire that wrecked their home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The fire broke out in the middle of the night when the family was fast asleep.
It was only because of the quick actions of their 5-month-old puppy, Rock, that the family was able to make it out alive.

Dad Walter Lewis, who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and a major fear of heights, was the first one to be alerted by Rock’s erratic behavior on the night of the fire.
Initially, Walter failed to understand why his dog kept tugging at his clothes and barking anxiously. But soon, Walter noticed that the bottom stairs of his house was up in flames.

As the family was stranded upstairs, Walter woke his wife and kids up and prepared them for the crisis. Despite his fear of heights, the brave dad jumped out of the window and brought the ladder.
He secured his young kid in his arms and grabbed his 9-month-old toddler with his teeth as he helped his family escape the fire.
Walter tried his best to get Rock, but the dog disappeared into the black smoke right before his eyes.
The poor creature perished in the fire before the firefighters arrived, leaving the Lewis family devastated at his untimely and painful death.

While the locals are hailing Walter for heroically saving his kids, the heartbroken man believes Rock is the only hero for his family.
The puppy loyally protected his humans till his last breath and sacrificed his life to save them. Walter believes his family will always owe their lives to Rock. Rest in peace, Rock.
