Rescuers seize dog that appeared to be hit and bitten by woman on subway

For those of us who are forced to discipline our pets in public, there are a number of considerations that need to be made. In most instances, you should not be striking your pet and it is important to use positive reinforcement when you want to get a point across. Abusing an animal for any reason is wrong, even if they do something that causes you to become angry with them in a public venue.

However, there are far too many people out there who do not see that way and they regularly abuse their pets in plain view. The video below depicts a woman who was riding the subway in Toronto when she decided that her dog needed discipline. Instead of calmly addressing the dog’s actions, she began to strike the animal violently and if that were not enough, she also bit the defenseless creature.

We cannot even begin to imagine what we would do in this scenario. First of all, we would never discipline an animal in this manner, as it is a far less effective method than positive redirection. We also do not know if we would have been able to watch all of this go down without eventually intervening. It is clear to see that the dog is dying to escape from the clutches of this evil woman as the blows rain down on him.

This video is a very recent one, as it took place on August 4. As much as we would like to think that these things are a relic of the past, there are still a number of pet owners who believe in corporal punishment. We should all want to live in a world where this is no longer a reality and our pets are no longer the recipients of unfair abuse.

The poster of the video believes that the woman who was involved in this awful treatment of her dog was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time. While some of the other passengers did their best to make this woman stop her violent behavior towards the animal, she was not willing to listen to their pleas and she even lashed out at them verbally.

Transit workers eventually intervened and escorted the woman and the abused dog from the train. If there is any justice in this world, this woman would face criminal charges for her atrocious behavior. Please share this video, so that we can collectively raise awareness about instances like these and do our best to finally put a stop to animal abuse.

UPDATE: Police said they grew concerned for the dog after watching the video and notified the OSPCA, which opened an investigation. The OSPCA said the dog, a Chinese crested dog, has seen a veterinarian and is doing well.

The video below may be graphic for some.
