Woman Caught On Video Tossing Bag Filled With 7 Newborn Puppies Into Dumpster

A woman was caught on surveillance video pulling up in her Jeep behind a Napa Auto Parts in Coachella, California, with a plastic bag filled with seven newborn puppies.

She was seen getting out of the Jeep with the bag in one hand while walking over to the dumpster. She proceeded to lift up the recyclable bin cover before closing it and tossing the bag into the trash.

She then got back in her Jeep and drove away.

Within the next hour, a passerby named John found the bag in the trash and took it into the store. If he didn’t find the bag so quickly, the pups would have died in the 90-degree heat.

“There is no excuse for dumping puppies,” Animal Services Cmdr. Chris Mayer said in a statement. “Especially in today’s age when we or other shelters would be willing to get these animals to foster parents or rescue partners. This was a shameful act.”

Officials are now asking the public for help in identifying this woman. Animals Services officials, sheriff’s investigators and the district attorney’s office are all working together to get justice for these puppies.

The puppies, who are thought to be three-day-old Terrier mixes, were cared for by Animal Services veterinarians before they were handed over to MeoowzResQ, a non-profit that specializes in feline rescue and fostering. The rescue is taking good care of the pups and bottle-feeding them as needed.

All seven puppies are expected to be okay.
