It’s impossible to know the history of every stray dog or cat you see. However, it’s important that animal lovers do their very best to lend a hand to creatures they discover in desperate need of help.
This dirty, one-eyed dog wandered the streets of a California neighborhood for quite some time. Luckily, he was eventually found by a Good Samaritan.
That kind-hearted person wasn’t about to let the dog run off and disappear into the city, so they trapped him in their yard and decided to get him some help.

The individual that found the dog reached out to the Hope For Paws rescue, hoping they could find a way to capture the fearful stray.
Sure enough, Eldad and Loreta arrived on the scene, ready to help the little dog. Unfortunately, the little one was terrified of humans and wouldn’t let them get close, so they had to enlist some help from a Pit Bull named Blue.

Blue was the Good Samaritan’s dog, and the little stray seemed quite taken with him. So, in order to get close to the cautious dog, the humans let Blue calm him down. Then, they carefully approached him, making sure not to frighten the dog away again.
The one-eyed rascal still put up a bit of a fight when they slipped the lucky leash over his head, but eventually he was safely tethered to them.

After a closer look, it appeared that the little dog did have two eyes, but one was so badly injured, it required medical attention. So, they took the dog back to a vet where it could be removed after various check-ups.
Appropriately, they named the little pooch Pirate.

While at the vet’s, Pirate was scanned for a chip. To everyone’s surprise, he had one!
But when they called his owner, things didn’t go as expected. Pirate’s former family didn’t want him. In fact, he had already been replaced with another dog.

Thankfully Pal Rescue, a local animal shelter, offered to take him in until he was adopted. It didn’t take long for the adorable little pup to find a forever home.

They named him Moody (presumably after the one-eyed Harry Potter character Mad-Eye Moody), and gave him the loving forever home that he deserved.

Now, he can spend his days learning tricks, getting treats, and playing with his furry siblings and human family. It’s unclear why his former family deemed him unworthy and left him to fend for himself on the streets. Thankfully, it all worked out for Moody and his tale has a very happy ending!
