The amazing team with Hope For Paws has seen it all! When they received a call about a dog hiding out in an industrial area, beneath a building, they were quick to respond.
The man that had called fed him when he could but knew the dog deserved more.

Eldad and Loretta saw the dog hiding and diligently worked to trap him. This wouldn’t be easy. The dog was scared and by his appearance, he hadn’t been cared for in a long time! He took off running through the parking lot.

Finally, they were able to catch him but it was a challenge, for sure. Looking at him broke their hearts. He was so dirty and badly matted.
He whimpered and struggled when the leash was placed around him. He tried to bite it off. Then he tried to bite his rescuers.
To a traumatized dog that was mistreated, humans did not represent kindness.

The rescuers gave him a yummy cheeseburger. The poor dog was famished. They named him Masik (which means “babe” in Russian). He devoured the food.
As he ate, Loretta gently pet his head. She worked hard to prove to Masik that they weren’t going to hurt him.

Eldad wanted to get him to the vet quickly. He knew the dog had serious injuries that needed to be addressed. Loretta went to pick him up nervously.
Thankfully Masik knew that she wasn’t going to harm him and allowed her to carry him. They put him safely into a crate.
He shook with fear but part of him understood he was now in good hands.

Back at the hospital, they sedated Masik so they could shave off his matted fur off. He was too afraid and if he fought the vet techs, he could injure himself further.
Once his body was revealed, the staff could see thousands of fleas. Poor baby!

The vet put him into a deeper sleep to ensure Masik didn’t move. His x-rays were taken which revealed a crushed pelvis. He must’ve been in so much pain.
The next step toward healing was to operate on Masik’s pelvis. He was such a trooper!

Masik was placed, after recovery, in a loving foster home. He’s still available for adoption.

Animal lovers have a lot to say about this story but regardless of what you may think, this is one SMART DOG!
Steve Moore rescued Jackson, a three-year-old Golden Retriever, from the shelter. Jackson needed a home and Moore stepped up to the plate. Moore took Jackson in and began working with him every day. In just a month, Moore had him trained to do something PHENOMENAL! His “trick” had every passerby that saw Jackson, wanting this dog for themselves… a dog NO ONE showed interest in just a month prior.
Moore took Jackson to high traffic, busy areas so he could work with him while getting used to the noises and distractions around him. He had Jackson sit and stay. Then he had him sit and stay for a longer period of time. Then, he had him sit and stay while he walked away from him. He did this repeatedly UNTIL Jackson could be left on his own long enough for Moore to go inside of a store and get his errands done. Since dogs are not allowed in most stores, this was a better alternative to leaving him in a car where he could overheat. Plus, he wouldn’t be tied up, so if an emergency should happen, Jackson could run to safety.
The final stage was to get him to sit and stay WHILE wearing a sign around his neck. “Dad told me to wait here. Me waiting.” And Jackson is really good at waiting! Even with commotion around him and people walking up to say “hi” and give him pets, Jackson waits, FAITHFULLY for his human to return. Now that’s a GOOD BOY!
