On her way to work recently, New Yorker, Olena Kagui, was doing something people all over the world do every single day. She was scrolling through her phone and suddenly, her eyes locked on an adorable Pit Bull. The innocent-faced pooch looked back from the phone and Olena could not stop staring at her.

The dog is named Smiley, and when you see photos of him, you’ll understand why. What no one can understand is how someone could abandon this sweet guy to a shelter because they were going to have a human baby. Like millions of dogs, Smiley would have welcomed a new baby and fit right in with proper introductions. Instead, his family chose to dump him.

Kagui wanted Smiley in her life, so she had a chat with her husband. At first, they dealt with a local rescue group that planned to get Smiley out of the shelter. From there, Smiley would need a foster home. That’s where Olena and her husband entered the picture.

At first, the adorable dog was nervous and refused to make eye contact with the couple. With time and patience, the dog was calm, loving, and became a part of the family. Things were going so well that the couple is planning to adopt him! We love a happy ending, and we wish you a wonderful life with your forever family, Smiley!
