The Chautauqua County Sheriff posted a photo to Facebook of one of their own tending to a dog in need out in the cold snow.
It was Sgt. Chris Howlett who arrived on scene to the dog who’d been hit by a car, and to comfort her, he took off his coat and draped it around her as they awaited help.
“During times that there seems to be negative press towards law enforcement this shows a bit of compassion on the part of law enforcement and specifically our deputies,” they said in a statement on Facebook.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office later updated the post saying, “The family has reached out to provide an update. Her name is Rogue and she is being evaluated by Veterinarians. She is doing well and hopefully we will back home by Monday. I am sure the family has greatly appreciated the outpouring of support from everyone.”
The photo warmed the hearts of many people from all over, and we’re so happy to hear the dog’s injuries were minor and that she’s expected to make a full and quick recovery!
