Family Dumps Nearly Lifeless Body Of Emaciated Great Dane & Runs Away

We applaud people who do right by their dog if they can no longer care for the animal.

Sometimes life happens and people must surrender their beloved dog to a shelter because they cannot provide the animal with proper care.

If only a family from Texas took their dog to a shelter sooner, she might have stood a fighting chance.

According to the folks at Dallas Dog Rescue/Rehab/Reform, a beautiful Great Dane suffering from neglect was brought to their shelter and dumped by a family who did not provide a name.

She was purely skin and bones, had puncture wounds on her legs, abscessed markings, and was incredibly skeletal in appearance.

Immediately, her saviors named the dog Theodora, which translates to “miracle from God.” A miracle is what Theodora would need to survive.

A member of the rescue team was so upset and angry when she posted the story to Facebook, she wrote, “I am so angry my blood is boiling I can not speak without my voice cracking and the tears flowing. I never understand these cases, I do NOT UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CONTINUED TO WALK BY AND WATCH YOUR PET, FAMILY MEMBER DIE IN FROMT OF YOUR EYES AND DO NOTHING!”

Theodora was taken to a specialist to see if anything could be done to save her from certain death. Despite all of their best efforts, the specialists could not save Theodora. Her body was too far gone and her spirit was broken. Theodora’s death was 100 percent preventable.

“Her family carried her lifeless body in a crate to the shelter then they pulled her lifeless body out and said we would like her euthanized! They did not give her name just that she had not eaten for a few days,” the shelter shared to Facebook.

You’ve gained your wings, Theodora. We are so sorry humans failed you here on earth. We hope by sharing stories like this one, people will speak up and spread the word about the frequency of animal abuse. Together, we can make a difference.
