Elderly Man Who Is Beaten And Robbed Gets Home Safely Thanks To His Scottish Terrier

Seventy-nine-year old James Barfield is safely at home after being violently attacked thanks to his Scottish Terrier, Franky. His family says he may not have made it if it had not been for Franky waking him up and leading him home.

James Barfield told Fox4 News that he goes on a morning walk with his 3-year-old rescue dog every day near Samuell High School in Dallas. However, while out on his walk on August 28, 2015, two men approached him from behind and knocked him to the ground. They then kicked him, stole his watch, keys and $20 from his wallet. They hit him so hard that they knocked him unconscious.

The next thing Barfield remembers is being nudged awake by Franky. He grabbed hold of Franky’s leash and managed to stand up. His loyal dog, beaten himself, lead him safely home.

Barfield teared up during his interview, when he thinks of how the men hurt Franky. Although the suspects are still at large, the family is urging other seniors to be careful and aware of their surroundings, even in broad daylight.
