Deaf Dachshund Overcomes Early Life Of Misery To Become A Very Happy Dog

Frank the Dachshund is a very happy dog. But he wasn’t always that way. Before he was adopted by Rafael Borges and his wife, he was severely mistreated.

When Rafael Borges and his wife spoke with Frank’s previous owner, they were sure he would die in a few days. At 5 months old, Borges only weighed 6.6 pounds and had not been vaccinated. He had been locked outside in a small tiled area, improperly fed, “shedding excessively and unbearable smelly” from neglect and “his only friend was a torn blanket”. He also had gone deaf, which Rafael suspected was from an untreated infection.

When they first got Frank he was afraid of practically everything and never wagged his tail. “When we got him, he was afraid of shadows, glimmerings, peed everything (including himself), no tail wagging and fearful,” said Borges. To this day he runs away from brooms. But with the love and care his new family has given him, he is now a very happy dog. He’s so happy that look what wonderful thing happens when he dreams…

Borges wants to encourage others to save a life of a dog like Frank and adopt, writing “I did this video to show how one can change the life of a being with only love and care.”
