When Chris Ouwerkerk, a rescue driver for the Michigan Humane Society, was dispatched to a potential rescue site, he thought this would be like any regular rescue. But he would soon find out just how wrong he was.

When Chris got to the rescue spot, it was raining and very cold. He quickly spotted a puppy hiding between two trash cans, trying to keep herself warm and dry. Chris whistled to the shivering puppy, and the puppy immediately came running to him.
As Chris petted and picked up the puppy, he noticed another figure between the trash cans. Thinking there was another puppy there, he reached in to find it was, in fact, a tiny kitten, also shivering in the cold rain. Apparently, the puppy and kitten were cuddling each other to stay warm.

Chris quickly put the pup and kitten in his truck and drove back to the safety of the shelter. There, the two babies got vaccinated and treated. Then, the emaciated puppy and kitten got tons of love, care and food to get them back in shape.

Even back in the shelter, the bond between these two was quite apparent. The pup and kitten, named Camarin and Tomas, continued to snuggle with each other, and wouldn’t leave each other’s sight.

How cold-hearted must one be to abandon two sweet little creatures out in the rain? We’re glad Chris, and the Michigan Humane Society, answered this call and saved these two precious love bugs in time.
