911 Call Center Adopts 3-Month-Old Rescue Puppy As Their Newest Dispatcher

Dispatchers at a 911 call center in Texas have a new member on their team: he’s tiny, furry, super adorable, and he goes by the name ‘Sergeant Squelch.’

Proudly wearing badge number 911, Sgt. Squelch will live at the call center 24/7. But this isn’t just any dispatcher, he’s a three-month-old rescue puppy.

Borger Regional Communications adopted the pup from the City of Borger Animal Shelter, and he’ll now live at Hutchinson County’s communication command center. The dispatchers will spend time with the furry new member, giving him love and care around the clock.

The administration believes that the addition of Sgt. Squelch will be “extremely beneficial after times of extreme stress in the day to day duties of Dispatch.”

Sgt. Squelch visits each dispatcher at their desks and sometimes even sleeps on their feet under the desks. The staff loves bending down to pet the pup and enjoys his presence. It has brought them joy and comfort in times of need.

But that’s not all Sgt. Squelch will help with. He’ll be joining dispatchers during school programs and community events.

Residents of the community are also welcomed to meet the adorable pup at the Borger Municipal building anytime between 8am-5pm.

Since Squelch brings smiles and helps lower stress levels here, maybe other 911 call centers will start to follow suit and adopt dogs of their own!
