The Budweiser Clydesdale Family Has Welcomed Their First Foal Of The Year

Warm Springs Ranch, a breeding and training facility in Boonville, Missouri, for the Budweiser Clydesdales, has just welcomed their first foal of the year – an adorable girl named Carly.

Warm Springs Ranch posted a video on Facebook of Carly taking her first steps, as she stays close to her mama.

The 300-acre ranch will be opened to the public starting on March 23, where they can learn how the Clydesdales are bred, raised, trained and cared for.

Nearly two dozen foals are born there each year, and guests are able to get up-close and personal with them during their guided walking tours.

The ranch has been around since 2008 and includes a mare/stallion and foaling barn, veterinary lab and ten pastures, which include customized, walk-in shelters. It is home to more than 70 Clydesdales ranging from foals to stallions.

Not every horse can become a Budweiser Clydesdale, though. In order to join the World Famous Budweiser hitch, a Clydesdale must meet certain requirements.

According to Warm Springs Ranch’s website, they “must stand six feet tall, they must be geldings and at least four years old, they must have a bay coat, four white stockings, a blaze of white on the face, a black mane and a black tail, and they must weigh between 1,800 and 2,300 pounds.”
