The note read:

“My name is Andrés and I am 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him. I left him a stuffed animal so he won’t forget me.”

Rene’s tail seems to be fractured, so he will be examined by a veterinarian so they can determine the next steps. Once he is fully recovered, he will be adopted into a loving forever home.

Rene’s story broke the hearts of people all over the world, and the rescue was quickly flooded with more than 300 requests to adopt Rene.

The rescue will take their time choosing the absolute best home for him.
