Family spots a bear in their pool but look who else is there as the camera pans out

When it's hot, families across the country pack up their cars, cover the kids in sunscreen, and head to the nearest body of water – and a video out of New Jersey shows bear moms don't think that differently. In the adorable viral video, posted by Tim Basso on YouTube, a mom and her 5 precious cubs frolic into the back yard, and then hop in the pool for a swim.

Mom and her cubs are seen splashing around, throwing the pool toys out, and playing around in the back yard. Basso's kids, who you can hear through the entire video, are less interested in the hilarious scene, and more concerned about sharing their pool and playscape with their furry neighbors.

The video was captured in August, but it's not necessarily the humid summer heat that leads these bears to the pool. The Bear Life Organization says that black bears are natural swimmers – using the water to fish for food. So while the play day may look like all fun and games, the cubs were actually learning some valuable swimming lessons from mom.

Check out the video below – but beware, it's unbearably cute.

  1. Just make sure to turn sound off if you don’t want to listen to extremely spoiled brats. I grew up without ever having a pool and turned just fine. Those kids obviously take after the dad and would rather care that something they should be grateful to ever have owned is being used to give them a great safe nature lesson.

  2. Cute bears I hope all was well for never seen black bears like this before very funny and cute. I have seen kangaroos playing with water and koalas with water but I loved this thanks for the entertainment

  3. How amazing to catch this on video, very special. Shame the human children didn’t appreciate this special moment. They need educating. This is what wrong with the world. Kds growing up to thing that they and their material possessions are the only thing that matters , never mind the beauty and wonder of nature.

  4. Arg!!! What a time to stop recording! What happened to momma bear?????? I’m sorry about the damage to their pool, but what an awesome experience this would have been. Such a wonderful opportunity to teach about bears and wildlife in general.
