Friendly Ski Resort Bear Cub May Be Euthanized For Being “Too Nice”

A sweet friendly baby bear that is being spotted frequently at the Northstar ski resort in California is in really big trouble for “being nice.”

The bear cub approaches people, makes friends with them, and is not violent in the least. Despite all that, experts fear the bear may need to be euthanized due to her disposition.

Wildlife experts warn people that bears who are comfortable around people are actually quite dangerous.

Ann Bryant, executive director at Bear League, told NBC, “Let’s say she goes back into the wild and she grows up and adds about two to three hundred pounds on to her weight. She’s big, she’s strong, and she still thinks she can approach people? That’s not going to be good and somebody is going to shoot her.”

Public safety is foremost in this situation, and the bear cub is presently undergoing a medical evaluation by the California Department of Wildlife. Once this is complete, a decision will be made whether the cub will be put down or transferred to a sanctuary.

Watch the cub in action as a skier gets up close and personal below.
