Astronaut Returns Home To Her Furry Best Friend After Spending A Year In Space

NASA astronaut Christina Koch just returned home from a 328-day mission, and no one was more excited to see her than her dog, LBD (which stands for Little Brown Dog).

Their heartwarming reunion was caught on video, which you can watch below. In the video, you’ll see LBD standing on her hind legs, scratching on the front door with her tail wagging.

She saw Koch walking toward the door before she even opened it, and could hardly contain her excitement.

As soon as Koch opens the door and comes inside, LBD goes absolutely ballistic and jumps all over her to give her kisses.

Koch posted the reunion on her Twitter with the caption: “Not sure who was more excited. Glad she remembers me after a year!”

Koch’s nearly year-long in space has set the record for the longest spaceflight by a woman.

She landed safely on Kazakhstan on February 6, and is extremely happy to be back on Earth with her dog, family and friends.

“This journey has been everyone’s journey,” she tweeted. “Thank you to all involved in the success of our mission, and for giving me the opportunity to carry everyone’s dreams into space. I’m filled with gratitude to be back on the planet!”
