Woman Turns Her Car Around To Help Dog Who Lost His Favorite Toy

When Claire Cummings spotted a small stuffed pig on the sidewalk during her drive to a friend’s house, she thought it was a little odd — until she glanced in her rearview mirror.

There, behind a low wall, was a dog leaning over the edge, staring down at the toy with heartbreak written all over his face.

The poor pup had accidentally dropped his beloved stuffed pig over the wall and was waiting patiently, hoping someone kind might come along to help.

“He could have easily jumped over the wall to get it,” Cummings told The Dodo. “But he’s obviously been trained very well not to.”

Cummings, who runs a dog-walking company with her partner, knew she couldn’t just drive on. Her love for animals made the decision easy — she quickly turned her car around, parked, and walked over to help.

“We’re huge animal lovers,” she said. “We would have hated to think he was sitting there waiting and nobody helped.”

The moment Cummings handed the toy back, the dog’s mood transformed. He wagged his tail joyfully, clearly over the moon to have his precious pig back. After a few happy pats and grateful looks, he trotted off with his toy — finally reunited.

As Cummings drove away, she glanced in her mirror one last time. The dog had disappeared inside, stuffed pig in tow.

It was a small act of kindness — but one that made both their days a little brighter.
