For weeks after moving into their new trailer-style home in Jacksonville, Florida, Isa Machado and her family couldn’t shake the feeling that something else was living there with them.
“We heard strange noises throughout the house,” Isa told The Dodo. “Something was making sounds in the walls, and we got scared because we could even hear them in the kitchen.”
The strange scratching and shuffling grew so persistent that Isa’s mom began to wonder if their new home was… haunted.
Then one day, the mystery revealed itself — in the most unexpected way.

Isa had just stepped into the bathroom when she heard the noises again, this time right beside her. She froze. The sound was coming from inside the wall.
“I was really scared, but I didn’t make a sound,” Isa said.
And then, out of a small crack in the wall, a tiny hand with pointy claws began to reach through.
Startled but curious, Isa grabbed her phone and hit record. Whatever was hiding in the walls was finally about to be caught on camera.
When she showed the video to her family, their fear immediately turned to laughter and relief. The “ghost” haunting their home wasn’t supernatural at all — it was a raccoon.
“We thought it was so funny and sweet,” Isa said. “We called animal control, and they came to get it out.”
But when officers arrived, they discovered it wasn’t just one raccoon — an entire family had made themselves at home in the crawlspace beneath the trailer. Since the space had been left open, the animals were free to come and go as they pleased.

With the mystery solved, the Machados could finally relax — and even appreciate the adorable squatters who’d been keeping them up at night.
“Let me tell you,” Isa said, laughing. “Those are the cutest and sweetest little critters I’ve ever seen.”
