Woman Discovers A Surprise ‘Kindergarten’ Of Baby Spiders In Her House

Huntsman spiders are known for being the gentle giants of the arachnid world. They’re big, fast, and impossible to miss when they move into a home.

But for one family in Australia, a visiting huntsman brought more than just her impressive size — she brought babies.

Lots of them.

One afternoon, Claudia was at home when her daughter called her into the bedroom. Near the window, Claudia spotted something she never expected: dozens of tiny spiderlings crawling out of a freshly hatched egg sac the family hadn’t realized was there.

“It certainly was an unexpected surprise,” Claudia told The Dodo. “We do have the occasional huntsman spider in the house, but I didn’t realize we had an entire kindergarten crawling around.”

As you'll see, the little spiders made quite the first impression:

The sight might have made many people squeamish, but Claudia had a very different reaction.

“They’re so cute!” she said. “I’m not going to kill them.”

True to her word, Claudia decided not to disturb the new arrivals. Instead, she simply opened the window, giving the spiderlings a safe path outdoors.

“We let them be,” she said. “And they were all gone the next morning.”

The huntsman mother had chosen wisely, turning Claudia’s home into a temporary nursery for her brood. And thanks to the family’s kindness, the babies were able to begin life in the wild exactly as they should.

“We basically love animals,” Claudia explained — a love that extends even to unexpected little guests with eight legs.
