When rescuers first found Poppy and William wandering the streets, the pair were almost unrecognizable as dogs.
Skinny, nearly hairless, and deeply withdrawn, they were rushed to a vet before being transferred into the care of the RSPCA.
No one knew if they would survive.
“It breaks our hearts to think back to when they were first rescued,” said Hannah White of the RSPCA Kent Isle of Thanet Branch. “They had clearly endured so much trauma. Both were extremely depressed, and it seemed they had been used for breeding before being cruelly abandoned.”
Given their fragile state, staff expected their recovery to take many months, maybe longer. But in just three short months, Poppy and William made a stunning transformation.
“Today, they are full of beans and completely unrecognizable,” White shared.
Their fur has grown back, their eyes sparkle with joy, and they’ve rediscovered the playfulness every dog deserves. In their foster home, they’ve been soaking up love, comfort, and fun — but what they need most now is a forever home.
Poppy and William are completely bonded. William has very poor vision, so Poppy often acts as his guide as well as his best friend. Wherever one goes, the other follows.
“These two have been through so much together,” White explained. “They are inseparable, so we’d love for them to be adopted as a pair.”
After nine difficult years, Poppy and William are ready for a fresh start — a safe, loving home where they can finally enjoy the life they always deserved.
