Broken Hearted Dog Was Brought to a Shelter and Finds Out He’s Being Given Up

Animals do have a unique perception. They are fully aware whenever things aren’t okay. This dog, named “Toto,” found out that he was being given up when he stepped inside the busy Carson Animal Control office, in California, one Friday. In the video, you’ll see the instant Toto, a three-year-old Chihuahua, was given up along with a bit of his food.

Toto can be seen leaping up on his owner’s leg and trying to break free. The look on Toto’s face reveals it all. The main reason Toto was surrendered was because he was being too noisy. Which is, basically, a cheap excuse. There are many ways to handle this situation. You could always train your dog and training is available everywhere…

The Carson Animal Control office was frantic. They were almost full, and Toto had to find a foster home as soon as possible because a dog that is given up by their owner may be put down for any excuse.

Have a look at this video

Toto didn’t find a foster home. Thankfully, however, he got adopted instead! This adorable dog won’t have to worry about being given up again.

Don’t forget to share Toto’s story to all of your friends and family!

  1. The reason was that “he was being too noisy”. Ummm, what do you expect a dog to sound like??? I’ve known friends who had to give up their pets for reasons out of their control. Yet they always tried their hardest to find them homes themselves, and they were all successful.

  2. I couldn’t in a million years do this to any animal! How could this owner do this to this beautiful dog? He’s shaking like a leaf, so sad to see this 🙁 I’m so glad someone adopted him, he will now have a happier life and a much better loving companionship with the his new owner!!!!!!!!!!

  3. The problem is that if they don’t have a shelter to drop them off at, they drop them in the streets instead. And no kill shelters are kill shelters too, as when they are full..they turn people away and force them to relinquish to kill shelters. The rescue groups are always full and turn people away. I’ve seen many allow them to courtesy list through them on petfinder.com. I begged a no kill shelter to take a dog off the streets one time…wouldn’t take the dog. And another time I begged a no kill shelter in Las Vegas to let me adopt two dogs from them and take them to CA…and they wouldn’t allow them out of state, even though I had references and their animals were in filthy conditions and in crates in the hallways, they were so full.

  4. Buy better sound proof windows, hire a trainer if you cant train your dog to be less barky, while they are puppies don’t teach them its cute to bark then expect them not to want to bark as adults cold hearted Jerks.

  5. I would never give-up my dog. I would live in a cardboard box before I would move into a no-pets apartment. The owner should have contacted a dog rescue group. While the shelter might not be high-kill, it might transfer the dog.

  6. Okay…I havr to say this. An owner does NOT want their pet. Period. So, they are at least taking them to a shelter. Not leaving them on a street, throwing them out of a moving vehicle, tying them up leaving them to die or something equally horrible. They are leaving them at a shelter regardless of that shelters intentions they may not know or understand. But WHY are they being dissed for at least trying to find some place else for their unwanted pet? Just exactly what are they suppose to do? They are damned if they do, damned if they don’t. But I don’t appreciate them be posted on FB as evil people. What they are, we don’t know. But I find this type of post out of line. So you think they are jerks…they were jerks for getting a pet in the first place and abandoning them later on, making them someone else’s issue, but there is a reason why they are called humane societies for a reason….just exactly what is their choice?

  7. Just break my heart… This owner just didn’t gave a dam about this poor dog toto… Just didn’t care… Poor dog didn’t want to leave his owner… Because he was a noise dog, that poor excuse…. But I’m glad that someone step up and adopted him gave him a good home…. I hope he is in a better home will love him…. He is a special dog…. Could tell a good dog.. The owner didnt know how care for him… This man doesn’t desreve to have any dogs anymore….

  8. This kind of$#%&!@*is the most heartbreaking. I’m thrilled he got adopted, and a message to the ex owner of this beautiful dog…eat$#%&!@*and kill yourself. I’d starve before letting my dogs go hungry, let alone ever even consider giving them up

  9. Next time you are in your veterinarian ‘s office, ask them how many pets owner’s bring into their office for euthanasia because the owner can’t /won’t take the time /effort to find home for the pet they no longer want for whatever reason. I am talking healthy, young animals. It happens! So what is better, taking pet to DVM for euthanasia or to shelter for possible chance at a forever loving home! Think before you judge the situation & condemn the owner.

  10. It is a no win situation. I could not give up my fur children, and while these poor fur children are devastated at being given up, and rightly so, how horrible…but I ask again, what is the alternative? Seriously? WHAT?
I adopted a severely abused Boston. She took one look at me when the jerks came to meet me, leapt out the window of the vehicle, ran up to me, laid down next to me ( I was sitting in the grass with mine) and wouldn’t even acknowledge her POS former owners. It was all I could take to listen to them politely, waiting for them to get lost. She leapt into my car and would not even move a muscle when they called out to her, she just kept looking straight ahead out the front window.
I am forever thankful they gave her up, she was a fantastic brilliant fur child, severe PTSD in certain situations that I tried my best to protect her from and I miss her every single day.
