Meet Kerby: a pint-sized kitten with a personality so big, he couldn’t be ignored — even in a crowded shelter.
Earlier this year, rescuers in Pennsylvania found Kerby wandering the streets alone. He was just a baby — vulnerable, scared, and clearly desperate for love. They gently coaxed him to safety and brought him to Main Line Animal Rescue (MLAR).
“He was still just a baby, completely vulnerable, and clearly desperate for love and comfort,” a representative from MLAR told The Dodo.
Once he was safe, Kerby’s challenge wasn’t survival — it was standing out in the shelter’s bustling kitten room. Amid dozens of playful paws, he wanted just one thing: someone to see him.
“He was sitting in his kennel, tiny paws pressed against the door, staring out with these big, pleading eyes, begging for someone to notice him,” the representative said. “You could feel his longing. It broke our hearts. It was as if he was silently asking for someone to love him.”
But Kerby wasn’t shy. He was a love bug at heart — playful, silly, and full of life, yet incredibly affectionate. The MLAR team knew he was ready to become someone’s best friend — if only the right person came along.
Animal advocates shared Kerby’s story on MLAR’s Facebook page, urging potential adopters to meet the little furball. It didn’t take long before the perfect match appeared. Kerby’s new family instantly fell in love.
“It was a perfect match from the start,” the representative said.
Today, Kerby no longer needs to beg for attention. He’s thriving in his forever home, where every day is filled with play, cuddles, and the love he always longed for.
“Kerby is absolutely thriving in his new home,” the representative said. “He’s still playful and loving as ever, and now he gets to share all that energy with his family every day. He finally has the life he was silently asking for in that shelter kennel — a life full of love, safety, and joy.”
To help other cats like Kerby find their forever homes, consider making a donation to MLAR — because every little paw deserves to be noticed.
